Leadership, Life & Lessons
What’s Avon Estates’ Mission?
Our mission is about creating places people genuinely love to spend time, whether they’re on holiday or living with us all year-round. We want to provide beautiful, welcoming environments and communities that feel like a home away from home, where families make lasting memories and residents have complete peace of mind. Simply, it’s about quality, exceptional service and a personal touch from us.
How do you define success, not just for Avon Estates, but for yourself?
Success for me is building a business that’s sustainable, respected and trusted by our customers and team. On a personal level, it’s seeing our parks thrive, our team grow and knowing we’ve made a positive impact on people’s lives.
What’s been the most rewarding moment for Avon Estates?
Honestly, it’s seeing families come back year after year, watching multi-generational guests create new memories. That kind of loyalty means we’re doing something right. One moment that really stands out was when we hit a major sales financial milestone; not just because of the numbers, but because it represented the collective hard work of the whole team. It felt like a turning point, a moment of real pride.
How do you stay focused on your long-term vision?
I stay focused long term by regularly reviewing our goals, staying up to date with our team and customers and reminding myself why we started, my Parents.

What are your key priorities for the next year?
My key priorities are acquiring more parks to expand our footprint and make an impact on more people’s lives, enhancing sustainability initiatives, such as generating and utilising Biodiversity Net Gain credits and improving occupancy rates and sales in areas I see potential for growth.
How do you feel Avon Estates stands out within the industry, or what makes you different?
In a nutshell, we’re a family-run business with over 40 years’ experience, focused on personal service, quality and long-term relationships. Our attention to detail and genuine care for our owners and guests, in my opinion, sets us apart.
What’s your fondest memory since the beginning of Avon Estates?
It has to be the opening of Stratford Parks’ Riverside Venue Bar and Restaurant back in 2014. It was a big moment for us, both as a business and as a family. We’d put so much into it, from countless planning meetings to navigating some major setbacks, including unexpected flooding. So when we finally opened the doors, it wasn’t just about the building, it felt like a celebration for the whole community. It marked a real milestone for everything we were working towards.
What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received professionally?
“Treat every customer like they are your only customer.” It’s about attention, care and without a doubt, always going the extra mile.

How do you stay aligned with your customers’ needs?
It’s so important to stay aligned with our customers’ needs. We do this by keeping communication open, ensuring quick response times, providing surveys and collating feedback and most importantly, I am keen that we are always present at our parks to listen and adapt.
What do you look for in a team member beyond their CV?
Good question! Attitude, empathy and always a willingness to get stuck in and learn. In my opinion, skills can be taught, but genuine care and team spirit are non-negotiable.
What’s a quote that resonates with you?
“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.”
If you had unlimited resources, what’s the first thing you would do tomorrow?
The first thing I would do is invest in creating the most sustainable, accessible holiday parks in the UK, leading the way in green initiatives and community outreach. It’s something I genuinely care about and with the right resources, I’d love to set a new standard for the industry.

From Boardroom to Breakfast Table
What does a typical morning routine look like for you?
Early start (sunrise time!), a cup of coffee, a quick email check and a walk with the dogs. Clears the mind and sets the tone for the day!
What motivates you personally, not just professionally?
Honestly, it’s seeing the real, tangible results of the work we put in, whether it’s a sales deal or a small win. I’m also driven by potential, spotting something in a person or a project that others might overlook and helping it grow into something great. That’s very rewarding for me.
What’s a personal habit or mindset that’s contributed most to your success?
Consistency, always! Showing up every day, even when it’s tough.
Do you have any role models that have shaped your journey?
My parents, without a doubt. They started the business and instilled strong values of integrity, dedication and service.

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?
I love figures, facts and spreadsheets – can’t get enough of them! Tell me what’s working and what’s not.
Outside of work, what brings you joy or keeps you grounded?
Long walks, always! Fresh air, exercise and being in the outdoors, particularly at sunrise with the dogs before the day begins. Nothing better than starting with a clear mind for the day ahead.
What’s one piece of life advice you try to live by every day?
Treat people how you’d want to be treated. Whether it’s a customer, a colleague, or someone you’ve just met, I think showing respect, kindness and a bit of empathy goes a long way. It’s something my parents taught me early on and it’s stuck with me ever since.
Who do you go to for advice when making a decision?
During my career, I’ve been lucky to cross paths with grounded colleagues I trust and respect. When I’m facing a decision or need a fresh perspective, they’re the ones I turn to. It makes a big difference having people around you who aren’t afraid to be honest and frank with me.
If you weren’t in your current role, what career path would you have pursued?
A barrister. Who knew?!
What’s your ideal retirement plan?
The ideal plan would be travelling with family but still staying involved in the business in some capacity. I’ve been there from the day I was born and always wish to be a part of its growth and success.
What’s your greatest personal achievement and why?
Balancing family life with growing a successful business. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth it!
How would your friends describe you in three words?
Loyal, driven and generous.
What’s the most spontaneous thing you have ever done?
I once booked a last-minute family holiday and we were on a plane the next morning. No itinerary, no plan, just adventure. It turned out to be one of the best trips we’ve ever had. Sometimes, the unplanned moments make the best memories.
