Rachel and John share their journey to discovering holiday home ownership at Stratford Parks.
They fell in love with the lifestyle and now enjoy the time and freedom to spend quality moments with their family.
What inspired you to take the leap and invest in your dream holiday home at Stratford Parks?
Living in Portugal, family time is precious to us. Our daughter lives in Shipston-on-Stour, and we needed a comfortable place to stay to enjoy visits. Renting was a hassle and expensive, costing us around £1,000 a week with no guarantee of availability or quality. When our daughter suggested we consider looking at Stratford Parks, initially we turned the idea down. Then one day we drove past and thought that we should at least have a look. We had no idea that it had such a gorgeous riverside location and great facilities. From that moment on, we never looked back!
What was your first impression of Stratford Parks when you came for a visit?
We popped in to just have a look around, but we were so impressed that we asked if we could view a few holiday homes. Throughout the day, the reception team were fantastic and made us feel right at home, explaining everything about Holiday Home Ownership, being completely transparent about the costs and what to expect. We fell in love with the riverside location and the friendly team and could see ourselves feeling at home in the community.
So, having been an owner for 2 years, what would you say are the main benefits of owning a holiday home at Stratford Parks?
We jumped into holiday home ownership in 2022, choosing a lovely Omar Alderney Lodge on the Bard’s Rest Development. We are just a couple of minutes’ walk to the River Avon, with the amazing river taxi into the centre of Stratford upon Avon and about 5 minutes’ walk to the village of Tiddington which has a great pub, a Spar supermarket and several places to eat. From the Tiddington and Warwick Road (the other side of the river) there are regular buses to get you to nearby towns too, which proves very convenient.

We have spent much of our life enjoying camping and caravan holidays. We have never found a place quite like this that covers all the bases. Owning a holiday home here gives us the flexibility we need; the quality is far higher than rented accommodation and the overall cost works out lower for us. So actually it’s a ‘no brainer’. We can visit anytime during the 10 months the site is open, including Christmas and New Year, enjoying our holiday home together and inviting friends family over – enough said.
Of all the benefits you mentioned, which has been the one that means the most to you?
Owning a holiday home at Stratford Parks fits perfectly into our lifestyle, providing the freedom to enjoy our time as we wish while spending quality time with our family and creating lots of lovely memories together, we absolutely love it!
